The La Inmaculada Concepción, Olivarera of Pedrera and Olivarera of Casariche cooperatives were the award winners in the new edition of the awards given by the International Olive Council.
On this occasion the Designation of Origin Estepa received 2 third prizes thanks to extra virgin olive oils produced by the La Inmaculada Concepción and the Olivarera of Pedrera cooperatives and had another finalist for the oil produced in the town Olivarera in Casariche.
The oil produced by the La Inmaculada Concepción cooperative (La Roda de Andalucía) has won third prize in the category "Green Intense Fruitiness" and is an ‘Hojiblanco’ oil, a variety predominant in the territory protected by the Designation of Origin Estepa, which has a fresh aroma and a green olive fruitiness reminiscent of fresh grass, flavored with green olive leaf with hints of apple and artichoke. It is an extra virgin olive oil marketed by Oleoestepa, which is cool while delicate with elegant itching and bitterness.
For its part, the Olivarera Pedrera cooperative earned third prize in the "Green Light Fruitiness" category with an extra virgin olive oil made with the hojiblanca and Arbequina varieties, a combination which creates a very cool and delicate oil with the scent of freshly cut grass. An apple and almond flavor can be tasted, as well as an itchy and balanced bitterness. This extra virgin olive oil, also available from Oleoestepa and protected by the Designation of Origin Estepa, is highly appreciated in both the domestic and international market.
These international awards, the most prestigious in the olive oil sector, serve to further strengthen the concept of Designation of Origin Estepa as the most demanding company when certifying an oil, adding this year to the more than eight times in the last ten years that it has been recognized at the International Olive Council awards.
